The July Issue

July’s features:

Due to a complete Hard Drive collapse last month, I must appeal to the kinder nature of anyone who contributed any material since May 1, and must beg you to send me again your contributions. When the new hard drive was reinstalled I lost all the Rickman-related stuff I had added since May 1.

My apologies to all Rickmaniacs, and especially to the contributing Rickmaniacs.

However I managed to save the Letter To The Editor, since it was on a different file.
The answers to Renie’s Trivia Quiz are now here!

This Month’s Letters To The Editor

both from A Fan From Washington.

Dear Fausta,
I know we all have a glowing impression of Mr. Rickman based on his acting ability, appearance, suave appeal, boysih charm, etc., etc., etc. We're die-hard fans (no pun intended) and don't want to hear anything bad about him.
However, has anyone talked with co-workers on film or stage to see if he really is as good as he appears? Could he be an absolute snake in real life and project a different image on screen? Maybe he tells sexist jokes between takes, or pushes his way through a crowd. Who knows what he is like off screen?
Signed,
Just Wondering in Washington

Dear Just,
I hesitate to answer questions on Mr. Rickman’s life outside his work, since those questions are beyond the scope of this page. However, the persons who claim to have met him and have posted in
Karina’s Guestbook have said very favorable things about Mr. Rickman. Certainly he was very pleasant and considerate with the fans that met him in person at the Borders Book Signing last December 1997.
As for Mr. Rickman pushing his way through a crowd, I’d think there are many of us willing to be in that crowd!

Dear Fausta, What is this obsession we all have with this actor? I recently discovered his work and apparently he has a loyal following, judging from the letters and comments compiled in your Review.
Quoting Vanessa Redgrave in "Camelot" -- I simply adore him.
Signed,
Just Wondering in Washington

Dear Just,
As you abserved in your prior question (above), “his acting ability, appearance, suave appeal, boysih charm” are obvious to all. Add to that a bewitching voice and beautiful hands, and we can begin to explain our mutual obsession.
Or maybe we just simply adore him!
Thank you for your letter! Fausta

The Quote of the Month

Sir John Middleton, when asking Brandon if rumors about his interest in Marianne Dashwood are true,
“And why not, say I. A man like you -- in his prime -- she’d be a most fortunate young lady . . .”
Indeed!
